Spring Camping Trip Info:

March 25th, 26th, and 27th, 2009

Cost is $105.00

Where: Golden Bell Camp Center (45 min west of Colorado Springs)

We will be staying in a lodge, meals are provided, and there are tons of activities available!

MS Caregiver's Night Out

Save the Date: February 19th Caregiver’s Night Out

In recognition of the services provided by MS family caregivers, The Rocky Mountain MS Center cordially MS caregivers to join them for the MS Caregiver’s Night Out!

Thursday, February 19th

5:00 pm to 9:00 pm

at Maggiano’s Little Italy on 7401 S. Clinton Street.

Feature speakers will be Alys Novak and Linda Lehman Murphy.

• This dinner will take place of the regularly scheduled Caregiver Support Group that meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

2009 Annual Paper Work

By now, all KADEP participants should have been mailed the paperwork needed for 2009.

It is extremely important that we have complete information regarding your health status, diagnosis and especially all medications you are currently taking.

Paperwork must be turned in to us by March 17th, 2009. Participants with incomplete paperwork will not be eligible for any off-campus activities including bowling, hydro, camping, RTD outings.

If you need assistance, your care coordinator at KADEP will be more than happy to help. You can email hartman@mscenter.org if you need to know who your care coordinator is.

A Winters Entry in Colorado
Colorado's day started today with a burst of titanium white; as the snow flakes fell out of an overcast sky of pure white, clouds...clouds which are saturated with snow flakes of the season...

The populace and their vehicles creep along at their careful pace through a mist of earth clinging snow clouds.

Things are at a standstill during the season...a season in which the land thrives for...a time of much need for future use of moisture upon an arid landscape: with an ingredient of moisture comes in the form or water.

SNOW/Bad Weather Closure Reminder

KADEP’S CLOSURE POLICY FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER

We are in the midst of Winter and today was the perfect day to post the policy for KADEP closure due to bad weather. We make every effort to remain open during bad weather, but if the weather is such that it is a hazard for the participants and staff to make it here safely, we will close.

If Denver Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, then KADEP will be closed. If you are uncertain, we will have a message on the KADEP answering machine by no later than 6:30 am. We also will be on the list of closures with Channel 9 news. Thank you in advance for understanding.

Caregivers Support Group

The Caregivers Support Group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Next meeting is on January 13, 2009

Topic and Guest Speaker: Richard Vincent, Attourney, will be discussing issues related to guardianship, conservativeship, and estate planning.

Brittany is our new full time staff member. She has a masters degree emphasized in Therapeutic Recreation from University of Iowa. She also has a bachelors degree Grandview College.

We have a bunch of new faces around KADEP:
We have a new full-time Therapeutic Recreation staff member, Brittney.
Three new Therapeutic Recreation Interns, Lee, Marti, and Danielle, who are here for 16 weeks.
We also are blessed to have 8 young men from Regis High School are are volunteering for 2 weeks straight!
