Holiday Party Recap

Thank you to all the KADEP participants and families for attending KADEP's Holiday Party.  It was the first party in our new gymnasium, and it rocked!

The afternoon started with cakes, goodies, and punch. (Donations made by the Rocky Mountain MS Center Guild, United Seating & Mobility, and other individuals who brought treats).  We ate, drank and danced our way through the afternoon with amazing entertainment by "Dressed In Black."

Santa also visited KADEP and handed out gifts purchased by generous individuals who supported the KADEP Giving Tree.

Thank you to all volunteers, donors, families, and friends of KADEP for another successful Holiday Party!
Happy Holidays!

Meet Alex

Welcome Alex, KADEP's new nurse!

Hi! My name is Alex and I am excited to be working at KADEP as a Registered Nurse. I went to college at West Virginia University, and I graduated in May with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree. I moved to Colorado shortly after and I absolutely love it. When I am not working, I love running and being outdoors. In the winter I enjoy skiing and in warmer weather I like to hike and camp. I also like to cook and bake. I read a lot and one of my favorite series to read is Harry Potter. I moved a lot growing up, so I have family and friends across the United States. When I get the time, I love visiting them!

KADEP is looking forward to starting the new year with two new members of the nursing staff, Alex and Betty.  We now have two new part-time nurses.  We also says goodbye to KADEP LPN, Theresa, who worked at KADEP for over 6 years.  Theresa is further pursuing her education in Nursing.  KADEP thanks Theresa for her years of service, compassion, and love for all the participants.  Thank you!

Welcome Betty

KADEP welcomes Betty, one our new Nurses!

As you already know my name is Betty Mason.

I was born and raised in Sterling, Illinois but consider myself a Colorado “native” since I’ve lived and worked in the Denver Metroplex for 33 years. I’m an LPN and pretty proud of myself for sticking with it and not abandoning my “LPN family” for an RN degree and more money. As an LPN I’ve been blessed to have had the “hands on” care of so many physically and emotionally compromised individuals living in our communities loving every moment of it.

I’m honored to be back here at KADEP as the center's nurse doing what I love, interacting with clients and meeting needs that are certainly not “high tech” by any means but more about the heart and giving to a population that seem to me to be thankful for any small act of kindness.

During the time I was gone from KADEP, the middle of my three sons was diagnosed with MS. How ironic, huh?

Now being back has a much greater purpose to me and to Noah, my son. Fortunately he was zapped onto copaxone quickly and has no noticeable effects at this point.

It’s exciting to me to be on the “cutting edge” of what’s happening between KADEP and the MS Center here in the new building and I just can’t wait to see what the future brings!

Thank you all for this opportunity!

Betty, we are thrilled to have you back at KADEP!

Poetry inspired by Fall...

Soft fuzzy blue gloves and hat
Tomato soup, squash and golden leaves
I love fall more than you can believe,
but I wonder?  Where is the hot
chocolate with melting little marshmallows
There is nothing more comforting than
grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup
It will feed the whole group.
Thinking about it makes me feel warm
and toasty! Boy I love fall, the air is crisp
the apples are crisp and ripe.
I saw a man smoking a pipe.
It personifies the fall
I cannot gripe!
