Hawaiian Luau

KADEP enjoyed it's first Hawaiian Luau on Friday at the new building!  We sipped mocktails, played Aloha Bingo, Hawaiian Ring Toss, and pineapple bowling.  Shin and TC provided some hula dancing entertainment!

KADEP staff and volunteers have been hard at work, packing and unpacking everything KADEP over the last several days!  We are happy to celebrate the first day open at 8845 Wagner St; Tuesday, September 28th! 
We can't wait for the first day-  We have the same phone and fax #'s.

Thank you to Sylvia for hosting a beautiful Garden Tea Party at her home.  As you can see, it was a beautiful day with refreshments and fresh veggies from the garden to take home- Thank you Sylvia! 

Delay in Move

Our fish need a home!

Unfortunately we will not be able to get the fish pond up and running before we vacate the MaryCrest Campus. We have tried several options for attempting to keep the fish in foster care.  If anyone is interested in fostering and or owning (those of you who might have a pond and are fishless) please contact Ginny- gwagner@mscenter.org. The amount of time for fostering would be from now until next spring.  There are about 30 fish (mostly small and a few large).  If you are interested, please contact Ginny.

"The Art of Giving"

Want to change the world one gift at a time? This past semester, "The Art of Giving" group joined thousands who have already become part of the global giving movement. The idea of this group was to inspire more generosity on our planet. They challenged each other to give two gifts a week. This group took the focus off themelves and revived the giving spirit.

The participants had an amazing experience creating and giving gifts to their families, friends, and strangers.  Thank you to Beth for leading a wonderful class!

Congratulations team KADEP Climbers!





The KADEP participants formed a team to participate in Multiple Summits 4 MS.  Throughout the last few weeks, participants walked and rolled "laps" around the grounds to equal the distance traveled when climbing a 14'er.

9 KADEP participants raised money, completed their "climb" and received a Tshirt.

Congratulations to Ryan, Karol Ann, Liz, Daima, Brent, Ryan, Crystal, Tracy, and Ken for completing your goal and raising money to help support the Rocky Mountain MS Center.

KADEP plans to close for the least amount of time possible.  We are hopeful that KADEP would be closed September 20 and 21, and reopen September 22.  However, these dates are tentative.

Summer Bash Pictures

So much fun was had at KADEP's Annual Summer Bash!  The morning started with a Magician and a Talent Show.   The participants and staff at KADEP have many talents including karaoke, moving making, and amazing martial arts stunts by the "Invincible Asian- AKA Shin".

For lunch we had hamburgers with all the fixings, baked beans, potato salad and watermelon.  Tons of KADEP families and friends were in attendance to enjoy this fun day!

The afternoon was filled with dancing and live music by "The Shakes Band." 

A special thank you goes out to "The Shakes" for providing entertainment and fun throughout the afternoon once again this year.  You guys rock!

Volunteer Painting Change of Date

The painting date is Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 8-4 at the new building at Vista Grande- 8845 Wagner. St. Westminster, CO.

We also need donations of paint brushes, tape, and rollers.

We have 5 RTD buses.  Tie down spots are on a first come first serve basis- please be here by 9:30 am to be eligible to attend.

Team KADEP climbs Mt. Bierstadt!

Team KADEP completed their goal of climbing Mt. Bierstadt on Saturday! The team consisted of 19 members ranging in age from 12- 64 years old and one dog. 

We got up at 3:30 am and arrived at the trailhead at 6:00 am, where we met most of our team. Team KADEP consisted mainly of KADEP co workers and their significant others or friends. For most of the team, it was their first 14er. It was a 7.8 mile round trip hike with about a 2,500 feet elevation change from top to bottom. The views were breath-taking!  It was challenging, but we all made it to the top and met our goal!  A special thank you to Ginny and Gary for providing a campground site for a BBQ lunch after the hike.

Summer Camping Trip

KADEP campers returned from a 3 day camping trip last Friday.  The trip was filled with fishing, hiking, making S'mores, great friendships, and ghost stories around the campfire.  12 participants, 2 staff members, and 4 interns, enjoyed the trip, sleeping in tents and soaking in the beautiful surroundings at Wilderness on Wheels.

Thank You Regis University Students

Thank you to the 20 Regis University Physical Therapy students for their volunteer work on Sunday.  They disassembled the retaining wall at KADEP, and help transport the materials to the new building at Vista Grande- A special thank you to KADEP staff member, Michelle, for helping with this project!
