Spring Camping Trip Recap

The Annual Spring Camping Trip was a success!  9 KADEP participants made their way on an overnight adventure to Colorado Springs and Golden Bell Campgrounds March 23-25.

They boarded the van at KADEP on Wednesday morning.  The afternoon was filled with a visit to the beautiful grounds at Garden of the Gods.  Wednesday night, they headed to their cabins, unpacked their bags and ate dinner.  The Wednesday night activity was a blast.  They did skits with props from each of their bags and items in their rooms.  Congrats to Molly, who was awarded with The Best Actress Award!

Thursday, they had a hearty breakfast and visited the Pioneer Museum and Court House in Colorado Springs.  Next, was a tour at the Fire Fighter's Museum.  Thanks to the tour guides for showing them around!  After a fun day, they headed back to the cabins for dinner and a movie.

Friday morning was started with delicious biscuits and gravy.  They packed their bags and said goodbye to Golden Bell until next year!  Everyone was back at KADEP for lunch and a restful weekend ahead.

Thanks to KADEP staff, TC and Donna, and to the three TR interns.  The trip was a blast!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Today has been filled with Irish Fun, Irish Music, and Irish Food.  For lunch we had corned beef, cabbage, green beans, potatoes, salad and a green mint brownie! 

Also, a special thanks to Deb who played the Fiddle for us again this year!  We look forward to having you each year.  Thank you!

Thank you to North JeffCo Center's choir group, The Notables!   They sang Show Tunes and Irish songs on Tuesday afternoon.  It was wonderful.  Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us!

Congrats, Jack!

KADEP participant, Jack, has lived with Multiple Sclerosis for years.  Jack recently has been able to stand on his own, do squats, and walk in the parallel bars.  This is quite an accomplishment!  We are very proud of you.  Kudos to Shin, who works with Jack in the Fitness Center.  Jack, you are a role model for all those living with MS to keep the faith and keep working hard!

KADEP's Women on Weights



 

KADEP staff member, Beth, leads the Women on Weights group.  This group of women work on endurance, strength training and resistance training.

KADEP would like to thank our friendly, lovable maintenance man, Gary Wagner, for all his hard work.  Gary has been working hard day in and out since last spring, making our new home as beautiful as it is now!  He has even managed to keep a smile on his face this whole time.  Thank you for your dedication!

KADEP visits Touch Em Up Boxing Gym

The KADEP Boxing class paid a visit to Heavy Weight Champ, DaVarryl Williamson, at his gym called "Touch Em Up Boxing." 

We had a wonderful time!  Thank you to DaVarryl for welcoming us into his gym-  You are awesome!

KADEP Enterprise Group needs your help

KADEP ENTERPRISES NEEDS EBAY AUCTION ITEMS—AND IDEAS!


The KADEP Enterprises class is exploring small business ventures to earn money for KADEP programs. Our first venture is to auction items on ebay.We are looking for new or like new donated items such as electronics and jewelry that are easy to ship and valued at $25 or more. We are also interested in:

•Entertainment and sports memorabilia and tickets
•Travel and vacation packages
•Antiques, coins and vintage collectibles
•Cars, boats and RVs
•Unique Experiences (Lunch with Gov. Hickenlooper? Spa day for five?)

AND we want your ideas for other possible KADEP Enterprises earned income opportunities. Some ideas we’ve already generated are:

•Weekend and evening classes for the community
•Community gardens, specialty nursery and other horticulture projects
•Craft sales/farmers’ market
•Online or retail thrift store
