St. Patrick's Day!

Lots of fun was had yesterday at KADEP on St. Patrick's Day!

Thank you to Deb Carstensen, Celtic Fiddler, who came for the 2nd year in a row, playing Irish music!

We had an Irish lunch of Corn beef, cabbage, green beans, salad, potatoes, and a mint brownie for dessert.

In the afternoon our wonderful auctioneer, Beth, led our first Peanut Auction.  Each participant got a bag of 20 peanuts.  We had some wonderful items to bid on.   The auction items were modeled by KADEP staff and participants and everyone walked away with something- it was a hoot!

What a fun St. Patrick's Day!

Poetry by Dennis P.

Bright flowers on the Irish coast
Are nibbled by the lambs who toast
Glad tidings for everyone there
Keep English out of their green hair
As they go strolling through the glen
And imagine the past times when
The Irishmen were in control
As beneath the bridge is the troll

March is MS Awareness Month

A brilliant poem written by KADEP participant Christine Payne about her life with MS:

There's a monster in my house
I can't see him but I know he's there.
He's a kleptomaniac he steals from me
And he sometimes brings it back.
He stole my vision one time,
I was blind for awhile and
then brought some of it back.
He stole my cognition from me,
I used to know what cognitive meant
But I forgot.
I was looking for a monster under
my bed and hit my head.
"Who are you?" I cried in distress.
In a sinister voice, he replied
"I'm an autoimmune disease and my name is MS."

Thank you, Christine, for sharing your talent with us!
