A message from KADEP Program Director...
A message from Ginny, KADEP Program Director, on the left...
Your attendance at KADEP is IMPORTANT!
Beginning with the month of September we have a goal to have over 60 participants attend the program everyday. It is critical that we not only continue to grow the program, facing our current Medicaid cuts, but to get KADEP participants to show up for their scheduled days. We understand that 100% attendance is challenging, however we ask that try your best to schedule appointments on days that you do not attend the program. If you are sick, have a medical appointment, or have other reasons for being asbent, please let Maria know, so we know that you are OK. Each participant is part of the KADEP family, and we look forward to having you on your schedule days!
If we accomplish this goal…Let’s have a party!
It will be a group effort to reach 60 plus participants each day. Keep an eye on the blog to see how well we are doing. Thank you in advance for your attendance and continuing to be a part of the KADEP family!
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Ginny Wagner, KADEP Program Director, at 303-433-6887 or email wagner@mscenter.org

Angelyne, the Amazing Deaf Cattle Dog Performs for KADEP
Angelyne, an Australian Cattle Dog was born bi-laterally deaf. Thanks to Angelyne’s exceptional intelligence and the dedication of her owner, Eric Melvin, she knows and responds to over 40 different hand signals and non-verbal commands. Regarding their afternoon performance, Angelyne’s story of perseverance was inspirational and it was passionately communicated by Eric to the KADEP community. Following Eric’s speech, Angelyne performed many tricks including jumping through four hula hoops. The show ended with clients getting a chance to pet Angelyne and get a photo taken with her. The clients and staff of KADEP were very happy with Angelyne and Erik’s visit and want to thank them again for coming out and giving us a great show. Thanks again Angelyne and Erik!!!

Letter from KADEP's Program Director
Dear Participants and Caregivers
As the new semester approaches we wanted to take the opportunity to talk to our participants and caregivers about early departures. In the past few months we have begun to notice that transportation providers are coming earlier to pick up clients to take them home. We want to be sure that our participants are getting the full benefit of our program day and we are finding that many clients are missing out on the afternoon activities due to these early departures. Our staff has also found it increasingly difficult to provide services when participants are continually leaving at all times of the afternoon. It has become a challenge to determine day-to-day how many participants will actually be in attendance for afternoon classes. This in turn makes it hard to order adequate supplies and prepare in advance for the activity.
Our afternoon activities are scheduled to run until 2:45 pm. We want to ask for your cooperation to schedule rides no earlier than 2:30 pm to allow for less disruption to the activities. We want our participants to enjoy the benefit of the recreation and leisure activities that we provide and we want our staff to feel as though they can facilitate these types of activities without having so many disruptions.
We do understand that some individuals are in situations that they need to leave early or need to have a shortened program day. If you are in this category please contact me so we may discuss a modified schedule that will suit your needs and will not disturb our afternoon programming. I can be reached at (303) 433-6887 ext 115.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
Sincerely,
Ginny Wagner, CTRS
