King's Land Seafood

KADEP had a wonderful time at King's Land Seafood Chinese Restaurant yesterday.  We sipped on Oolong Tea and dined on delicious dim sum brunch.  We ate seaweed salad, panfried pork dumpling, baked BBQ pork bun, chicken and mushroom dumpling, Shanghai dumplings, congee porridge, fried shrimp balls, lo mai gai (steamed seasoned rice wrapped with lotus leaves), and many other unique flavors!

Thank you to Jimmy at King's Land, and thank you to Shin for coordinating this fantasitc Chinese experience, although his roots are Japanese.

RTD Outing

RTD Outing

When: Wednesday June 27th
Where: King's Land Seafood
Who:  History of China Group

Be here by 9:30 am to be eligible to attend.

The History of China Group will get to experience King's Land Seafood.
You could be forgiven for thinking that Dim Sum was a dumb mathematical puzzle but, in cantonese its literal meaning is "order to your hearts content." When you visit Kings Land Seafood Restaurant between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., that’s what you will need little encouragement to do. The whole idea is to order a wide variety of small lunch dishes taken with copious cups of hot green tea. Visit later in the day and the whole gamut of Cantonese delicacies, focusing strongly on the fruits of the sea, await you. The world is literally hooked on this famous variation of Chinese cuisine, which is best known for its lightness of touch, freshness and flavor.

Thanks to Shin and Amanda for setting up this trip!
Enjoy!

KADEP Hydrotherapy

Did you know that KADEP offers three hydrotherapy classes a week?

Monday- Warm Water Pool
Tuesday- Independent Hydro
Friday- Cool Water Pool focused on MS

Hydrotherapy classes involve: shallow-water and deep-water exercise, water walking and adaptive aquatics.  This unique water exercise program offers individuals who can no longer stand or walk the opportunity to exercise in an upright position. The water's resistance results in more controlled movements and participants experience an independence denied to them in other environments. The goal is to help adults with neurological challenges become stronger and more flexible in body and mind.

If you are interested in more information about the Hydrotherapy program at KADEP:  Please contact Hydro Coordinator and CTRS, Beth Winter at 303-433-6887.

Meet KADEP Staff Member, Debra Walsh

Welcome to Debra Walsh/MSW

Hi everyone! My name is Debra Walsh and I am
the new Master of Social Work for KADEP. I am really excited to be joining such an awesome community. I am from the Chicago-land area, and I got my Master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In the past, I’ve worked at mental health and counseling centers, so KADEP is a very fun change for me! I have a lot of hobbies, including hiking and biking, and I make my own greeting cards. I also have an identical twin who lives in Minnesota. I’ve been in Colorado for just under a year, and I am so happy to get to stay and work for such a great organization.

Meet KADEP Staff Member John Garrity!

Welcome to John Garrity/MS TRS

My name is John Garrity and I am the new Therapeutic Recreation Specialist at KADEP.

I was born and raised in Maine and came to Boulder, Colorado where I completed my internship with the Expand Program. I have a BS in Sports and Recreation Management and a Masters of Education in Therapeutic Recreation Management. I am an avid outdoorsman and love to ski, hike, and camp.
I also love to cook, love to travel and am a marathon runner. I currently own a service dog, soon to be a therapy dog, named Sully.

I am excited to be a part of KADEP and getting to know all of you!
